Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Computers decided to sponsor
two huge outdoor Rock n Roll Festivals, one in 1982 and the next in 1983.
Both Festivals were held in San Bernardino County just East of Los Angeles,
California at Glen Helen Regional Park.
The 1983 US Festival today is still listed in the Guiness World Book of
Records as "Largest Rock Festival Attendance" with a record crowd
for all four days of 670,000 fans. Van Halen also set a world record as the
highest paid artist for a single apperance $1,000,000.
The US Festivals werent simply just loud, crude rockfests with top of the line
recording artists, women in bikinis and the sweet smell of marijuana
billowing above the crowds, these shows also had technology expositions,
air conditioned pavillions that showcased the technology behind the shows.
This was the opening day and beginning of Rock & Roll EPCOT !

Lenny Stogel, former Music manager & ABC Television executive
Sandy Feldman decided to sponsor two huge outdoor Rock n Roll
Festivals, one in 1974 and the next in 1978 and both Festivals were
held at Ontario Motor Speedway, Ontario, California just outside
of Los Angeles. The Festivals became known as CAL JAM I and
CAL JAM II. Both Festivals were Televised on ABC Television on
its "In Concert" series. CAL JAM I in 1974 generated the largest gross
income of its time $2,000,000 and drew in 200,000 fans.
CAL JAM II in 1978 drew in 250,000 fans and also resulted in great success.

The Birth of a new day and the inauguration of the Bob Marley
Performing Arts Center on November 25, 1982 combined to
bring an international bash of music fans to Montego Bay
where they witnessed a memorable set of music by the
Ministers of Ganja and Rock n Roll.
The Jamaica World Music Festival was created by Denver, Colorado
entrepreneur Barry Fey, and his Feyline Productions Company,
In return for the rights to develop some of Montego Bays rocky beaches,
Barry Fey promised annual festivals at this open air stage for the next
3 years, but this promise was sadly unkept.
